Well, where to begin? I guess it's true when people say, "When it rains, it pours"! Except here, we're getting our first *real* snow of 2008. The district kids had off from school today, and were sledding down the nearby hill. I was thinking about joining them on my new toboggan, but in no time they had most of the snow scraped off the grassy slope. By the time that I would have gotten suited up to join them, they had all gone home.
The snow may have totaled 2" at the most. It's still falling, but we aren't forecasted for much more. I decided not to work today, so I have a bit of time to get things done on the home front. I got my new computer installed the day after I told you all about it. However, I have yet to attempt the data transfer thingy. Maybe I'll start that tonight. I think that I've opted to do the piecemeal copy-and-transfer method, rather than the hook-the-two-machines-together-and-pray-for-success way. As long as my uncle doesn't want his external HD back too soon, I should be OK.
Some things I don't understand, like if I had an old version of Microsoft Office on the old machine, can I transfer just the data that I have saved in Word? Because I have a free trial offer on this computer for the newer version of Microsoft Office. I was wondering if I could re-import those files back to MO somehow. They are files that I update every month or two, that's why. Anybody know?
The other day, I was looking at new ideas for my summer vacation destination. Airfare, of course, isn't as cheap as it used to be, but I found a few trips that would keep it under $600 RT. I may forego my plans, however, because now I have a new unexpected expense of the same value. I had just gotten off the phone with my garage to make an inspection appointment for my car. After that, I decided to run some errands in my Jeep, and proceeded to back it straight into my $#@*&^! CAR as I was leaving my driveway!!! AUUUGHHHHH!!!
I guess that I just ain't meant to have any fun this year! At least, not for now. It's good that I have insurance, but I still have to pay the deductible. Only time will tell if my rates go up for my stupidity.
On a lesser note of disappointment, the guy who I clicked on on Hot or Not actually clicked back and nominated me "Best Of"! So, I wrote him a nice little non-threatening message. He's been active on the site, but I haven't heard from him since. It's been a week now. Plenty of other guys creeps still click on my photo before reading my keywords, though. *Sigh*![]()
Despite the fact that I'm obviously going to be unattached again for the Hallmark Holiday, I still want to bake myself a heart cake. I got a heart-shaped Wilton pan a while back, and want to get out my decorating tips and play around. I love watching that TV show, "Ace of Cakes". Duff is the MAN! Even though I'm not using any fondant or making anything in 3-D, it's still inspiring to me. Plus, no matter what my creation turns out looking like, it's still going to be TASTY!
If any of you have a significant other, I hope that you enjoy your special day for me!
Did anybody watch the Grammy Awards? I didn't feel like wasting my time, knowing full well that my favorite of the nominees, Daughtry, would probably get left in the dust. Instead, the Queen of All Controlled Substances, Amy Winehouse cleaned house, with the ever self-absorbed Kanye West! I was told that his speech was getting long-winded and they turned the music on him to move him along, which he reacted negatively to. Yeah, his mom did die last year, but how much time did he figure they'd give him to speak about it?
I just got my latest issue of Rolling Stone and read the cover story on Britney. If what they are saying about her is true, then she really needs to get herself out of the spotlight and recover, if that's possible. She reminds me of Michael Jackson in the sense that she grew up in a really dysfunctional family and was forced into stardom at a young age. She never got to be a regular kid. Everyone took advantage of her, lied to her, used her. Wouldn't you go nuts after awhile, too? (Well, maybe I wouldn't shave my head and run around Hollywood butt naked, but I bet it'd have some effect on me). It would be interesting to find out whether she's really "sick", or just a product of her negative environment. I've had people stalk me before, but I think I'd shit if 200 paparazzi were following me around constantly wherever I went!!!
The snow continues to fall, and I continue to stall. I HAVE to do that data transfer soon!
Talk to you later!
The data transfer stuff won't be nearly so intimidating in reality as it
seems in theory. I think the geeks just dress it up with baroque
descriptions to make it seem like they're doing something arcane. Huh. If
a man can think it up, a woman can master it.
Holy crap! That may be the longest post I've seen from you.
