Wal-Mart promotes cruelty to animals!

posted Thursday, 30 December 2004

Well, it only stands to reason that if Wal-Mart mistreats its employees, it probably has even less respect for the life of animals!  Read about how a store in ***Evansville, Indiana*** gave orders to employees to SHOOT A STRAY CAT that had been hanging around the store.

It wasn't enough that the deed was done, but then they mistreated the body and were joking about it.  What kind of sick idiots do we have in this world?  I seriously doubt whether the staff had a problem with following their order, seeing as there was much laughter afterwards.

Every time that Wal-Mart has been in the news recently, it's been for something negative.  Do they not care?  Are they proud of their name in public, no matter what it entails?  They're still trying to force themselves on our rural residents here, who are still fighting with all their might to keep Wal-Mart out.  After Sam Walton died, all the dignity left the franchise.  His kids are callous, greedy, and don't care about running a business professionally.  Money can really corrupt, and there's almost no better lesson today in America than the story of Wal-Mart.

You ask if they care, of course they do, about money! Walmart is a perfect example of everything that is wrong with capitalism.

Having worked there for one year, two months and 23 days and counting, I'm obligated to say something about Wal-Mart. The reason everything that happens to them is negative is because of the command ladder they have. Really, what happens at that store is dealt with by that store, not some upper level of Wal-Mart. I compare this to school in the sense of math homework and tests. When you're being taught lessons in school, they'll grill you on every goddamn way to do a problem possible. If they teach a unit that involves the quadratic equation, the homework assignment will cover every way to solve a quadratic equation possible fifty different times and then move onto something like a geometry problem, and fifty more ways to solve it as the next assigment. That's the store level management. When it comes to the test, though, they lump everything they taught over the unit into a fifty problem test and quiz you on the BASICS of everything you did. No solving fifty quadratic equations. Maybe three, then three geometry, then three of everything else you did fifty of for the homework. That's your upper management. As long as you look good and you're making money, they could care less what you're doing. It's the store's fault if it's not caught.

This system sucks. The more power a company gets, the more fucked up they become. Sam was the only thing that kept that place even slightly decent. If he were still alive and I were him, I'd take those kids behind the shed with a switch and show them what greedy pricks deserve.

Sorry. I hate my job.

From American Public Media:

Today, if Wal-Mart were a country, it would be one of China's top ten trading partners. The company acknowledges it imports $15 billion in goods from China each year. Bracy concedes the figure could be much higher, and will keep on growing.

And as more and more low-cost Chinese products flow in to fill the shelves at Wal-Mart, more and more American manufacturing jobs flow overseas.

While I'm not disagreeing with anyone in any way here, let us also not forget that Evansville, In. has been the murder capital of the USA for years!! I think it was only until the last 2 years it possibly moved down to the #2 spot!

I'm not saying this excuses any company or person for that matter, but "When in Rome..."

MRBOB, Are you sure you are not thinking of Gary, Indiana as the murder capital for several years? I am just asking because I don't remember ever hearing about a particularly high rate of murder in Evansville.

I am absolutely fucking appalled!! I just called that store because I was so irate to hear something like this. I don't know what possessed me! Well the store manager (Ralph Kerchoff)(812)425-5825 was not available for comment, but I was informed that they are in the process of relocating the actual store. Tell me...then why the HELL did they have to kill that cat?? Bastards!!! The lady said he will be back in tomorrow if I wanted to call back..yeah right...I really believe THAT one! I think I will call back and inform them that WalMart didn't just lose Evansville customers, but are now losing customers around the COUNTRY for that episode!! I have no problem leaving my name and location! Gah! I'm am so irate and I'm not an over the top animal rights activist or anything by all means, but I do love animals. That just goes way BEYOND anything acceptible in my book! $#@$#@%$#^!!!! Bastards!!!

Yeah wal-mart is just an evil empire plotting and waiting to take over the world. They first start with low prices putting other companies out of business, then when they're the only ones. The shoot their prices up.

Humorously enough, South Park had an episode about the brainwashing draw of "Wall-Mart". Timely.

I think that's totally disgusting. They were too damned lazy to call for the animal shelter to come pick the cat up.

I can picture a day in the future that all of us sane people are going to be the ones locked up in jail because we just don't conform with the rest of this fucked up society.

Very nice. First they starve people in third world countries, then they starve their own employees, now these people are ordered to murder a cat. Unfortunately the only way a lot of people can survive is to shop at Wal-Mart. If you are on welfare with four kids, you have no alternative, so where is the harm to the corporation if a few anarchists and bloggers ban them...I have to shop there. I'm poor and travel year round, if I lived somewhere for more than a couple of months I might be able to find an alternative, and I do whenever possible, but sometimes it's the only game in town - especially in rural areas where small business owners can't get the volume necessary to support their stores. So I try to keep my shopping there to a minimum. But often the alternative is just another large chain. My favorite part about Wal-Mart is they are committed to keeping our children safe from harmful song lyrics but they sell dvd's and games with rape, murder, torture...walmartsucks.com has been shut down but try this:

Peace.
